Heather Ridge Wins Crime-free Award

Congratulations to Heather Ridge Apartments in Columbia Missouri for winning the award for Best Crime-Free Housing Success Story of 2012! After purchasing Heather Ridge (Gatehouse) in 2010, a new name, new ownership, and community-wide renovations have assisted in seeing crime plummet at the community.

We are incredibly proud of the transformations at this property.  We could never make this happen without an outstanding team with so much passion and enthusiasm for making this property thrive!  Thank you!

Here is a snippet from the press release:

On October 25, 2012 the Crime Free Housing Program and Neighborhood Watch Programs held its 3rd annual Crime Free Housing Forum.

Landlords, property managers and the Columbia Police Department joined together and shared strategies for reducing crime in their properties, such as running more in-depth screening processes, enforcing rules and making properties more attractive.

Mills Properties was among eight nominees for two first-time ever crime-free housing awards in conjunction with this year’s Landlords Against Crime town hall summit: Most Successful Crime-Free Housing Strategy and Best Crime-Free Housing Success Story of 2012.

Nominees — and winners — are chosen based on arrest, outstanding warrant, and law enforcement call-for-service records related to their properties, before and after new strategies, new ownership, or during consistent, long-time crime-free housing practices.
