It’s Friday…what do you do St. Louis?

Music…

I have often complained of the lack of great local artists playing around the city.  I am guilty of taking   the short 4 hour trip to Nashville to get my live music fix.  I had always thought that “music city” had great bands and loyal followers.  Most impressive (or amusing to me) – requesting bands to play Rocky Top…I have never seen adults get so rowdy singing and jumping for their signature song.

I began to wonder do we have a “Rocky Top”– am I just not looking in the right places for the great music in St. Louis?  I read in the Riverfront Times about awards and a music showcase of over 50 local bands playing this Saturday on Washington Avenue…and for only $5.  The list of bands is extensive and covers nearly every genre.  This may be what makes us different – we seem to have something for everyone.  Will this indulge my music fix and end my trips to Nashville?  The $5 entry fee is certainly less than a tank of gas.

Pointfest is also this weekend! Unfortunately, I will be attending the Horseradish festival this weekend in Collinsville to soak up their live music and celebrate that delicious spicy plant.
